Combined clinical Observership with research fellowship
The team is committed to pre- and postgraduate education in close collaboration with the core unit of teaching and education of the department, and with the Guido-Holzknecht-Association for education and research in radiology.
Our offers include
- Postgraduate courses with a strong focus on case-based learning about various topics in neuroradiology, head and neck imaging, and musculoskeletal radiology.
- The academic staff of the division provide e-learning materials on selected postgraduate courses as e-syllabuses, such as case collections or lectures in pdf format.
- Observership in the form of a mixed research and clinical observership in collaboration with the European School of Radiology (ESOR) and other radiological European Associations, with the joint efforts of the American Austrian Foundation, the Max-Kade-Foundation and the Open Medical Institute (OMI), and others. The duration is generally limited to 3 months. An individual observership may be provided on request. The programme is offered in German and English. It includes the attendance of daily morning lectures for residents, case discussions at the morning conference of the division, participation in selected readouts of radiological reports, scheduled weekly tumor boards, and other clinical radiologic conferences.
Investigations are performed with high-field MRI, high-resolution ultrasound, and digital radiography units. Free participation in the lectures of our postgraduate courses, if scheduled during the observership, is included without enrollment in the practical sessions of the respective courses. The mentors expect at least two case presentations from each observer during the latter’s stay, and will discuss active enrollment in a research project. Research is conducted in close collaboration with our clinical partners, the computer-assisted image analysis (CIR) lab, the high-field MRI excellence centre, and the department of anatomy and cell biology of the university. The objectives of our observership programme are to enhance the participants’ familiarity with high-end imaging in the field and help him/her to become a part of one of the research teams of our division.
The language is German, with focused sessions (morning conferences, tumor boards and other clinical-radiological conferences, lectures) in English.
